You will be aware that cyclodextrin’s ability to form inclusion compounds through molecular encapsulation makes it of great interest as a formulation aid.
Several pharmaceutical products on the market use this cyclodextrin technology for which Roquette has been producing and supplying the enabling excipient:
KLEPTOSE® HPB (hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin-HPBCD).
- KLEPTOSE® HPB excipient grade is suitable for syrups and oral suspensions, as well as for dry formulations.
- KLEPTOSE® HPB pyrogen-free grade is suitable for parenteral formulations.
For a long time this HPBCD technology has been used exclusively by a selected few. Today, the patent environment for HPBCD is more favorable for new formulations and the use of HPBCD technology in pharmaceuticals is now free of any broad-use restrictions except on US territory.
