PEARLITOL is the brand name of a range of mannitol dedicated to the manufacture of medicines. Mannitol has two key features: low hygroscopicity and high chemical stability; these make it an excipient of choice for a wide range of possible applications:
- PEARLITOL® C mannitol crystalline powders: fine crystalline powders used as a diluent in granulation for the production of dry dosage forms and freeze-drying.
- PEARLITOL® DC: first generation of textured mannitol offering coarse particle size and high density. Excellent free-flowing diluent binder for direct compression applications.
- PEARLITOL® SD: second generation of spray-dried mannitol offering fine particle size and low density. Excellent free-flowing diluent binder for direct compression applications.
- PEARLITOL® PF pyrogen-free mannitol for injectable products.
Mannitol is also non-cariogenic and allows sugar-free formulation.
This brochure presents the physiological, physical and chemical properties of the PEARLITOL® mannitol range as well as its functional properties and applications. It also introduces the pyrogen- free grade of mannitol and provides general information about the packaging.
